Following the excitement of a wonderful Ladies Day with over 300 ladies joining in the festivities, we are pleased to be back at Coogee Oval for the second week in a row.
On Saturday we welcome Randwick’s club coach from last season Shannon Fraser and the Northern Suburbs teams today to Coogee Oval. With the first game starting early in the morning a full day of competitive rugby is ahead for our loyal Coogee Oval spectators.
We acknowledge our generous Colts sponsor Rohrig with a massive Super Saturday presenting all our Colts and Grade teams on Coogee Oval. This is our third Super Saturday of the season, two at home and one a couple of weeks ago when the Galloping Greens headed west to Concord Oval for the West Harbour fixture. A big day lies ahead for the Club.
Without doubt, a heavy injury toll and the introduction of 18 first grade debutants in the first five rounds has seen our teams across all grades unable to find the smooth momentum required to provide more consistent performances and results.
Our long list of 2018 1st Grade debutants featuring Kiernan Rabie, Dave Purchett, Ryan Block, Tom Nowlan, Alex Hills, Ikapote Tupai, Sam Musgrove, Anthony Vasilis, Justin Cooper, Declan O’Donahue, Max Page, Bryan Croke, Harry Tyson, Christian Yasmin, James Ramm, Tristan Reilly, Tom Wong and Paddy Rumble have their names added to the illustrious list of Galloping Greens who've gone before them.
Despite close to a team's worth of recognisable 1st grade players still on the injured list there is no lack of effort and the results are not too far away. All our teams have worked hard this week on regaining form after losing all grades to Eastwood.
We are aiming for wins in all grades this weekend. The following week's bye due to Penrith being axed from the competition will give our boys a well-earned rest. The additional week of recovery should enable several of our injured players to return to the field for the home match against Manly in a couple of weeks’ time.
As always, we thank all friends and family for their support of the players. Don't forget the Suttons Sayleyard hospitality tents on the eastern side of Coogee Oval. Get behind the club, be vocal, we need you to support your team and enjoy the rugby on Saturday as our Galloping Greens look to bounce back from last week’s results.
Up the Wicks!
