COLTS GRAND FINALS

1st Colts, having earnt themselves a Grand Final berth, headed to Concord Oval on Father’s day to meet Gordon, who finished third on the table. Randwick started off well, pressuring Gordon’s line. Two minutes into the game, Randwick scored the first try and then another two quick tries, giving them a commanding 15-point lead – and that was the first ten minutes.

Just when it started to look like it was going to be a walk in the park for the Galloping Greens, the boys lost patience and pushed a few passes, coupled with, quite possibly, a lack of respect for Gordon. The boys paid the price: allowing Gordon to run the ball, which put Randwick under pressure and ultimately, allowed Gordon to score two tries in the first half.

Randwick went into the half time break leading 15 points to 10.

Solid performances from Randwick - locks Christian Poidevin and Lochie Drew-Morris; halfback Dimitry Chipizubov; and fly half Ben Donaldson - allowed Randwick to take control of the game and run out winners.

2nd Colts, earning a Grand final berth, also faced Gordon. Randwick kicked off and quickly went on attack, scoring their first try after 5 minutes. The Randwick scrum dominated, evidenced by a push-over try from 15 metres out. The boys went into the half-time break leading 24 points to 12.

In the second half, Gordon were fired up and dictated play for the first 12 minutes – until Randwick scored the first try of the second half. Solid performances from No. 8 Finn Kearns and blindside flanker Matthew Stead saw both players score two tries each, and enabling Randwick to run out comfortable winners.
