3RD COLTS Premiership SRU Champions 2012
Galloping Greens friends and families made their way south to support the Premiership Grand Final Rugby 3rd Colts at Forshaw Rugby Park on Saturday 8 September. It was 'RUGBY AT ITS BEST'. The Randwick 3rd Colts team was down 5-0 at half time playing into a very strong wind. The boys leveled the scores to 5 all early in the second half. A great set piece manoeuvred by our industrious forwards paved the way for Sam Tooth to burrow under the Uni forwards to score. A terrific individual piece of vision by our half Cam Terry placed a kick over the back of uni forwards to "out-gas" Uni defence to score under the goal posts. Finally, not to be outdone, our backs put on a classy try with a magic ball by Jackson Raymond to Tom Windeat to score, putting the Grand final victory beyond doubt for 2012. The celebrations on the hill started and the many Randwick supporters enjoyed the last 10 minutes.
The Galloping Greens had the first title of the 2012 season.
Special congratulations to the starting 15: – Hagan Butler, Jarrod O'Harra, Michael Celona, Sam Taylor C ,Sam Kenny, Jack Leger Ryan, Sam Tooth, Jack Musgrove, Cameron Terry, Leo Gordon, Ross Glasson, Jackson Raymond, Jake Kefford, John Weatherall, Tom Windeatt and those players who came off the bench Kurt Spurr, Domonic Edgerton and Sean Picone and not forgetting the players who represented the 3rd colts throughout the season. ...every player was part of a special group. Finally I must make special mention of coaches Emanuel Kaissis, Tony Palmer and Michael Michaels – it is always very difficult coaching this team but they have performed the role with grace, dignity and skill. It was only two years ago that we struggled to field a 3rd colts team. The three coaches have established a pathway from Randwick juniors to colts. I speak on behalf of the players, coaches and those associated with the team to thank those who made the effort to attend the match. We had a huge supporter base at the game. There was no doubt this support made a difference.
