Randwick Rugby Club is pleased to announce that in partnership with the University of NSW (UNSW Sydney), a rugby 7s program will be established with Matraville Sports High School starting in Term 4 in early October.
In a ground-breaking program, Randwick Rugby has collaborated with Coates Hire, Veolia Australia, Girvan Waugh and Molly Madar construction to provide career and education pathways for the students of Matraville High School in conjunction with a Rugby 7s program for the boys and girls of the school.
Randwick Rugby President Bob Dwyer commented “We have enjoyed, as a Club, a proud history and tradition with Matraville High School. The ability to assist local boys and girls through an integrated rugby and education program is one that we are proud to lead and deliver”.
“We’re excited to be partnering with UNSW, as well as supportive local partners in Coates Hire, Veolia Australia, Girvan Waugh and Molly Madar,” Dwyer said. “We see first and foremost this as a community engagement program that is going to make a positive difference to the boys, girls and families of the students”.
Nerida Walker, Principal at Matraville Sports High School, said she was delighted to be partnering with Randwick Rugby.
“Randwick Rugby is one of the most successful and iconic brands in Australian Rugby, and the integration between high performance, community engagement and education and career pathways that Randwick Rugby delivers excites us enormously”.
“We are looking forward to seeing many boys and girls graduate into the Randwick Colts and Randwick Magic 7s programs over the coming years whilst undertaking career and education opportunities through the Club’s networks”.
