Randwick District Rugby Union Football Club (RDRUFC) celebrates Life Members

On Saturday 27 August 2011 the Randwick District Rugby Union Football Club (RDRUFC) celebrated the club's ‘Life Members'. The day included prelunch drinks and lunch in the sponsors tent. We honoured all the Life Members of the Randwick Club who were elected in the period 1970 - 2011. They have all had a lengthy and distinguished career with the Club as a player, coach, manager, volunteer worker or Rugby Council Member. In so doing they have enhanced their personal reputation as well as the ethos of the Randwick Rugby Club. All life members were present or represented by family. We were honoured on the day to have as our official guest, The Honourable Peter Garrett, Minister for School Education, Early Chilldhood and Youth. Mr Garrett is an enthusiastic Randwick supporter, and kindly accepted our invitation to make the presentations of the newly designed Life Member Medallions.

Presentation of Life Members' Medals - 27 August 2011
This is just a short (though belated) note to thank you for including our family in the presentation of Life Members' Medals.
The Medal is a handsome piece and provides tangible recognition of the work done, and sacrifices made, by many wonderful people. Their efforts have, over the years, constructed and nurtured a fabric of which the current Club Members and the Rugby Community in general can be rightly proud.
Whilst my own commitments prevented my personal attendance, it was wonderful that you were able to accept my son, Nicholas, into the Randwick fold on the day. None of my children knew Jack as he died well before they were born. However, they all hold Randwick close to their hearts and they all understand that the Club played such a significant part in the life of Jack, me, and the rest of my family.
So, it was very special that Nick was able to go and receive the Medal. Thank you.
Can you please pass on my thanks also to your President, Anthony Bell, and to Bob Outterside who tracked me down in time to arrange Nick's attendance.
