Stats corner >...... Myrtle Green Volunteer of Week is..... ........Doug Alexander - our stats man at the ‘Galloping Greens'. Doug has lived in the Randwick area all his life and was a teacher of maths at Randwick Boys for over 20 years until his retirement. He is captain of the most important team in the Randwick Rugby Club; the "Table of Truth". The "Table" met here every night at 5pm; Doug is very similar to Richie Benaud - the leader of the Channel 9 commentary team. Every night he ensures all his team members are hydrated and have completed various warm-up tasks before hitting the heavy task of solving the issues of Randwick Rugby and the licensed club. Doug ensures that all participants refrain from moaning and whinging - their clear goal is that humour must be to the fore. Doug has been completing the task of collating all match results, etc for the last few years succeeding the late John Brewer. Doug is a regular at all home games and his reports have quickly become a favourite on the web page. If you have nothing to do one Friday evening at 5pm come down to the "Table of Truth" and introduce yourself to Doug. Description - Champion bloke who looked after rugby players

Masterchef BBQ at Latham Park - Dan Dowe Dan came into the club the other day and purchased a Green and Keen membership with the assistance of the GM Tony Lewis. He then noticed we were struggling to replace the great John Dingle on the Thursday night BBQ. He emailed the GM with the quote ..."Happy to cook up some snags for the boys" on a Thursday. Dan Dowe is 37 years young - he came down to watch the Galloping Greens because Eddie Jones was his Year 7 teacher at International Grammar - before he moved to Randwick Boys High, where he came across the one and only Doug Alexander. Dan played 3rd grade and colts for the Randwick Rugby Club. He has a memory of a coach called Fletch who he remembers with a funny beard and the worst comb-over... Favourite Player - King and Mark Ella Memory - 1988 All Black game - given half day off school by Doug Alexander Dan was ably assisted at training this week by Dingle Junior who needed no introduction to the BBQ plate.
Dan works at Australian Workstation Manufacturers, Botany, in business development. Noting the presence of the Randwick Rugby family he works closely with sponsor and Hall of Fame Legend Warwick Waugh from Girvan Waugh. He said the players at Latham have made him feel welcome every Thursday. Dan described them as a genuine good bunch of blokes and who all appreciate my efforts. The Randwick Rugby Club appreciates your efforts Dan and welcomes you back to the Galloping Greens. Thank you!
