Sponsors Corner - Allight Sykes

Randwick Rugby players, supporters and members will notice a new sponsor's logo at Coogee Oval - Allight Sykes. Allight is best-known for mobile lighting towers. Perth-based Allight is also an exclusive Australasia distributor of Perkins engines, FG Wilson power generators, Rotair compressors and Godwin pumps.

Sykes has been a major player in Australia's pump market for more than 40 years, and since 2003 has extended its reach into major mining and construction markets around the world. The technology behind its range of auto prime pumps, which are produced at its manufacturing bases in Newcastle, NSW and Dubai, is widely regarded as among the most advanced in the world.

Allight has added to its stable of world class mining and construction equipment brands following news that its parent company, National Hire Group Ltd, has purchased leading pump manufacturer Sykes Group.

Sykes Group has established distribution networks and customers across a number of export markets including the United Arab Emirates, Africa, Indonesia, the United States and New Zealand. Over the longer term, significant export opportunities exist for the sale of Allight's lighting towers and other product lines into these markets.

Promoted under a new AllightSykes branding banner, the two leading Australian manufacturers share common values and vision. Bringing them together within our portfolio of world class light, power, air and water brands underlines the bid to capture an even bigger share of world mining and construction markets. Following the acquisition, the combined group will have greater capacity to meet customer demand for sales and support of pumps, lighting towers and other distributed products.

Andrew Aitken, Managing Director of National Hire said:

"This is a company-transforming acquisition for National Hire's equipment sales and support business. Sykes Group provides scale, volume and distribution opportunities for National Hire that will help underpin future growth."

Sykes Chairman Jon Collins added; "Combining Sykes with National Hire is very exciting because the businesses operate in common markets and appear to have similar core values. Like Sykes, the Allight brand is very well respected, and being in the same family as Westrac and Coates Hire will enable Sykes to raise its profile and access resources to create even more growth opportunities for all stakeholders."

During the week Paul Sowerby the Director of Sales and Marketing for ALLIGHTSYKES visited the Randwick Rugby club. Paul is a rugby tragic and we welcome him to the Randwick family and the company he represents.

This week the Randwick Rugby club will be hosting Stephen Donnelley who will be representing ALLIGHTSYKES at the Coogee Oval home game.

The Randwick Rugby club would like thank club enthusiast and supporter Jon Collins for bringing these two great institutions, AllightSykes and Randwick Rugby, together. The Randwick Rugby Club thanks Jon for his support and mentorship of the Rugby Club and its players over the years. We look forward to Jon's continued assistance and expert guidance of Randwick Rugby in the future.

NSWRU Junior State Championships

A special occasion for about 240 young players, U10-U16, will be the ‘Jersey Presentation' at Brook St Saturday 29 May at 4 pm.  Proud to represent Randwick, the selected players have been through a rigorous selection process of pre-trials and trial games.  All those selected play for Randwick District Village Clubs.  They will be facing up to the opposition at inter-district level on the June Long Weekend.  Pat O'Shea, Vice-President of Juniors, and Head Coach Jim Dubos have worked tirelessly with an experienced group of senior club officials and coaches to ensure the best lead up to the Championships in terms of selections and trial games.  Special guests presenting the jerseys include Mark Ella, Warwick Waugh and Simon Poidevin, who is also coaching the U13 team. In 2011 the Championships will be hosted by other Rugby Districts but Randwick Rugby is optimistic of offering a home ground advantage in 2012. Excitement for the young U11 players was palpable last Saturday at North Sydney Oval when Randwick U11 took on the Shoremen in the curtain raiser to the First Grade fixture.  In what was a very vigorous and fast-paced game, Randwick ran out winners on the day scoring 25-20.
