Some years ago, in his early 20s, Ray Hare was playing rugby with Randwick when he was hurt in a ruck at Chatswood Oval, becoming a C4 quadriplegic, requiring him to spend his waking hours on an elevated plank to avoid bed sores. Nevertheless, he avidly watches news/current affairs/sport every day, and - by use of holding a kind of knitting needle in his mouth and tapping away on his mobile phone, before transferring the words to his computer - has over the past 18 months written a film script. Former Herald reporter Jim Webster, who has read the script - which is of the Indiana Jones genre - reports it to be "excellent". He is looking to pass it on to any number of producers.
