From the Board Room and President, Michael Jorgenson.

Randwick Development Squad - Pre-season Camp

32 players from both grade and colts are heading to Kincumber this weekend for a development camp with Club Coach Craig Morrison,  our 1st and 2nd grade coaches and Colts coordinator Jayson Brewer. The camp is targeting some of our senior and developing grade players to prepare them for the coming trials, as well as introducing new players to the Randwick style of play. Including 16 of our colts players on the weekend indicates the type of investment the club is putting into its first graders of tomorrow as well as giving these players a running start into the colts competition for 2011.

Club Patron Jeffrey Sayle will accompany the squad to ensure the young fellows keep on the straight and narrow and commit themselves physically to their training. The sessions will focus on technical and tactical aspects of the game.

Up the Wicks!

The Randwick Rugby Club wishes all their Super 15 players all the best for the season kick-off. Over the last week
Drew Mitchell has stood out scoring two tries for the Tahs against the Force. Kurtley Beale (pictured below at the trial at Nowra) also continues to shine for the Tahs on attack and defence. Ben Mowen has been starring on the blindside; we hear he has bulked up over the pre-season. Sekope Kepu has been starting for the Tahs; from all reports Benn Robinson may struggle to retain his spot.

The Randwick and international winger Drew Mitchell has signed on with Waratahs Rugby and the Australian Rugby Union for two more seasons.

Last night Nick Cummins scored the first try for the Force against the Tahs; he and Galloping Green team-mate Gene Fairbanks had solid games.

It is good to see Stephen Hoiles back playing after a long lay-off with various injuries.

Randwick players star at the Wellington 7s - London Sevens winner, Henry Vanderglass (pictured left) and Wicks team-mate Shaun Foley excelled throughout the tournament. Australia reached the semi-final, losing to the ultimate winners New Zealand.henry_vanderglass_wellington

Randwick open side player Seilala Lam had a strong game off the bench for the Rebels A at Viking Park last night against the Brumby Runners.

Congratulations to Lotu Taukeiaho, selected to play for the Australian Barbarians team in a game against the Melbourne Rebels A side in Melbourne on Friday 18 February prior to the Super 15 Season opener between the Rebels and the Waratahs.

The Randwick faithful are gutted to hear that our favourite Fairfax journalist, Adam Freier, is still suffering from injury.

Wicks Colts player, Liam Walker took the field at halfback for the Australian Barbarians on Thursday against the Junior Tahs.
