Former Wallabies scrum-half Josh Valentine has joined second-tier French club Racing Club de Narbonne on a six-month contract.
The 28-year-old former Reds and Waratahs back, who has five Test caps for Australia, arrived in the southern French town on Thursday before starting his contract on January 1.
Narbonne have twice been French champions but are currently third from bottom in the ProD2, France's second division, and were almost relegated at the end of last season because of serious financial problems.
"It is a new challenge for me," said Valentine at a press conference.
"However, this does not mean that I will not return to play in Australia, and if I ever have the opportunity to play for the Australian national team again I would do so with pleasure."
Narbonne were recently taken over by an Australian investment, who bought 75 per cent of the club's shares. Valentine's arrival will increase the number of Australians at the club, both on the field and on the board, to eleven including the Head Coach, former Brumbies lock Justin Harrison.
