MEDIA RELEASE - ASRU PLAYERS SELECTED IN HELP FOR HEROES CHALLENGE RUGBY MATCH, TWICKENHAM >... Two members from this year's highly successful ASRU men's team, which claimed 2nd place at the inaugural International Defence Rugby Competition (IDRC), will make their debut on the big stage in front of a 50,000 estimated crowd, playing along side some of world rugby's finest at Twickenham on Saturday, 3rd December 2011. (Randwick player) Tony Luxford and Ben Radmall, both from Army, have been selected to represent the ADF in the annual Help for Heroes Challenge rugby match at Twickenham. This year, a Northern Hemisphere team will contest the match against a Southern Hemisphere team. Six defence force players have been selected in each team. The Northern Hemisphere team includes six British military players, while the Southern Hemisphere team includes two players from the ADF, NZDF, and the South African Defence Force.Ben Radmall is a 20-year flanker currently serving with the 9th Battalion, Royal Queensland Regiment. This year he was awarded ASRU's Best Player for the IDRC tour. Ben has been selected on the bench for this Saturday's match, as a backup to former internationals AJ Venter from South Africa and Phil Waugh from Australia. Tony Luxford is a 24-year halfback currently undergoing officer training at the Royal Military College, Duntroon. He was awarded ASRU's Best Back for this year's IDRC tour and was also selected in the commemorative Defence World XV. Tony has been selected as the starting halfback for this Saturday's match, which is a remarkable achievement, noting that former All Black, Justin Marshall is on the bench for the Southern Hemisphere team. The match kicks off at 4:30pm on Saturday (UK time) and will be televised on SkySports (UK channel). Team lists can be found at http://heroesrugby.org.uk/teams/. Click to view the game >....
