Noble effort by Galloping Greens at Singapore 7s

The Randwick Rugby Club were sponsored by Gloucester Coal - a subsidiary of the Noble Group to attend the Singapore 7s last weekend.

The team left Sydney last Wednesday with a very youthful squad but included former Wallaby Josh Valentine.

The young side produced some very good performances early with 2 big wins against a Japanese side 50-0 and Palmyra 52-0 from Perth.

Unfortunately the Galloping Greens lost 12-17 to Borneo Eagles who played in the cup final and 14-24 to the French Development side which put us in the plate.

We were fancied to win it after such good performances early on but put in a poor game in quarter final losing 5-7 to Casurina who went on to the plate final. A disappointing end to what had been very promising start to the weekend.

The young squad no doubt, have learnt a lot and really played some very good rugby. The Randwick banner again flew proudly in Singapore both on and off field.
