Thursday, 13 October 2011 22:34

On the eve of the NZDF Team's first game in the IDRC, Wallaby loose forward Jeff Sayle spoke with the team and presented the playing 22 with their jersey. Jeffrey Sayle OAM, is a Randwick Rugby Club Stalwart (current Patron) and a distinguished member of the districts sporting community. A respected and long serving player and coach, Jeff was capped 3 times for the Wallabies in 1967. Jeff told some great stories of his 14 visits to NZ with various state and age grade sides as a player and coach.
Prior to the presentation of the jerseys Jeff spoke about the pride, the passion, commitment and the off field camaraderie that is the game. He spoke highly of Defence Force Rugby and the long association he has had with coaching Service sides.

Following the game against the RAF, the team was hosted by the Randwick Club at Coogee Beach. Of note was the outstanding collection of memorabilia including the NZ Combined Services Jersey mounted between the All Black, NZ Maori and Colts jerseys.
